Kendal on Hudson

This CCRC or Life Plan community prides itself on the intensity of intellectual curiousity of the residents here. The library is one of the, if not the biggest for a CCRC and residents have regular discussions about current events. A section of the library is just for books that have been written by residents, and it is notable that there are many authors and intellectuals in this community. Set on the Hudson River, Kendal on Hudson has a scenic view to the West. It is also is located adjacent to the Phelps Hospital, but in a side that is tucked away from the activity of the hospital so there is very little noise. On another side of Kendal on Hudson is an 80-acre preserve for wooded trails, hiking, or jogging. Meanwhile, the community is located within an hour's train ride of New York City allowing access to museum and theatre trips. There are 222 apartment residences in four multistory buildings, with community center, dining rooms, suites for residents needing supportive services, a health center providing short and long-term nursing care, and an array of community amenities. Residents enter into a Residence and Care Agreement with Kendal on Hudson and pay a one-time entry fee and ongoing monthly fees, and maintain required insurances. They have the satisfaction and comfort that comes with a contract that provides comprehensive coverage of housing, services and health care for the rest of their lives.
